چکیده

In this paper, a two-dimensional numerical model for wave-seabed-pipeline interaction is developed to examine the wave-induced uplift force onto pipelines buried in sloping seabeds. The Reynolds-averaged Navier stokes equation and poro-elastic are used simulate wave motion seabed response, respectively. Meanwhile, pipeline considered be elastic. Firstly, three laboratory experiments taken verify effectiveness of model. Then, effects characteristics, soil properties parameters on nonlinear analyzed. Finally, an empirical formula predicting under different slope angles proposed. It can found that angle greatly affect wave-caused pore pressure as well pipeline. Moreover, simple method proposed paper facilitate engineering applications.

Uplift resistance of buried submarine pipelines: comparison between centrifuge modelling and full-scale tests

A buried pipeline can buckle upwards if there is not enough resistance to movement. Both the uplift resistance (the maximum force per unit length) and the mobilisaion distance (the distance the pipeline has move before the maximum force is reached) are important in design. Tests on pipes in several soils were carried out at 1 g at full scale and in a centrifuge at 10 g and 1/10 scale. A compari...

Detection of Bending Stresses in Buried Pipelines

When gas or oil pipelines must be laid through sand or permafrost or other unstable soils, the pipe walls can he subjected to large bending loads if the soil shifts. In order to detect this condition and correct it, it would be useful to monitor the state of stress along the pipeline'at regular time intervals using a vehicle that is moved through the line by the fluid or gas in it. The experime...

Testing of Buried Pipelines Using Guided Waves

Introduction The inspection requirements of pipes that have an operational history of many tens of years have lead to the adoption of new maintenance practices and safety standards. The solution currently considered as best maintenance practice is the direct assessment of 100% of the pipelines with the minimum possible economical impact. The use of RBI (Risk Based Inspection) methods and the in...

A SURVEY ON THE EFFECT OF SOIL COMPOSITION IN CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF CATHODICALLY PROTECTED BURIED PIPELINES UNDER AC INDUCED CONDITION

Abstract: Due to the expansion of high voltage Alternating Current (AC) power transmission lines and cathodically protected buried pipelines, it is becoming more and more difficult to construct them with enough safe distances between them. Thus, the pipelines are frequently exposed to induced AC interferences, which result in perturbation of Cathodic Protection (CP) due to AC corrosion. To s...

Refinement to the Existing Analytical Methods of Analysis of Buried Pipelines due to Strike-Slip Faulting

Analytical methods presented to analyze the buried steel pipelines at strike-slip fault crossing use the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The cross-section of a buried pipe that is completely surrounded by soil cannot rotate freely and would not be remained perpendicular to the bending line after deformation. So it would be better to take into consideration a rotation between the cross-section and ...
